FAQ: Lore Link

What makes Lore Link different from other campaign management tools?

Lore Link is a tool developed distinctively for GMs. That means while it doesn’t have the minute details of a world creation tool, it does have a base structure that GMs (or DMs, Storytellers, or even Keepers, we aren’t picky!) can be used to structure and format your notes. That structure makes us different from the guided wiki campaign management tools which need to be setup by the GM. Lore Link helps the GM organize their notebooks, sticky notes, Google Docs, and spreadsheets into one place and link them together. Additionally, we designed Lore Link so it can be used at the table during the game, with features like Quick Create (to cover those things you had to create on the fly when your PCs go off script), Quick Notes (to track new information), and Sessions (to follow which events or locations you planned for the game, and then mark completed items and move incomplete items to future sessions). All that to say, Lore Link is a system agnostic tool that is designed both for planning and for play.

Is Lore Link a VTT or require a VTT?

Lore Link is not a VTT, but can be used alongside your favorite VTT. Lore Link is a GM campaign management tool, meaning it is there to help you build out your world, your campaign, and your session. It is designed to help you organize all of your notes from the notebooks, Google Docs, spreadsheets, VTTs, or even random sticky notes. Even better, it is designed to help GMs during play, by helping to keep track of all of the events, sidebars, random side quests, and derails that happen during your session. Organizing them in Lore Link means that you can link them to the Locations, Events, Characters, and Villains that make up your game.

When you say Lore Link is Accessible, what does that mean?

Accessible can mean a lot of different things to different people.
“Can I access the application?” Not every person has access to every type of device (laptop, tablet, iPhone). By making Lore Link a Web application means that anyone can access it, regardless of device. “Can I use the application if my internet connection is poor or unstable?” Stable internet connections are not always guaranteed depending on where you are in the world. Even if you happen to have a good connection where you live, will you have one where you game? We’re working on making sure that Lore Link has offline capabilities, so that as a long as you have some level of internet connection, you can use Lore Link. Changes made offline can be batched and uploaded once you have a better internet connection later. “Can I use the application if I have visual impairments?” This is what most people mean by accessibility. During our development of this our accessibility award winning UI/UX expert Martine has spent considerable time making sure that we meet WCAG AA standards and accessibility best practices. She’s spent time making sure that accessibility is not an afterthought in the application but a normal part of the workflow. That includes things like making sure that user generated content can also meet accessibility standards, like including Alt-Text for user uploaded images.

What languages will Lore Link support?

Currently Lore Link is in English, and, we have designed it from the start to be able to support multiple languages. However, we’ll need community support to help translate or supplement existing translations of Lore Link into other languages. Machine translation is NOT sufficient because even something simple as “Save” could mean “Rescue” or could mean “Commit to Disk” . Even the native French speaker on our team might struggle with figuring out the colloquially correct phrases for common TTRPG terms like “Campaign”, “Adventure”, or “NPC”

If you (Lore Link Team Member) were a die, what die would you be?

Twenty: For me? D20, obviously. Mark: D12 or D4. D12 because it does do a lot of work, but when it does show up, it’s really impactful. D4 because it’s a little chaos gremlin that just gets underfoot. And I have way to many fond memories of Magic Missile as a kid. Martine: I feel like I’d be something stupid, like a D7 or something. Something that you have to go out of your way to find a pack of dice that has that die. I like being the special cookie. Mike: I’d be a D12. Just the most satisfying die to roll. It has bigger flat surfaces, so it does a good job of rolling a certain distance then stopping.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
